The entirety of The Normal’s official output is this one single, but it is still monumental. The b-side is a nice ditty about sticking a TV antenna into your veins, and the a-side is an ode to car crashes based off of J.G. Ballard’s Crash. Throbbing Gristle’s industrial noise smashed into two synth-pop songs, hearing the delivery in the last verse of “Warm Leatherette” is still spine chilling- “A tear of petrol is in your eye. The handbrake penetrates your thigh. Quick, let’s make love before you die.”
